Report a defect (intranet users only)
The primary function of the Helpdesk is to accept all reports of maintenance defects throughout the University either by Intranet web access or telephone. The Helpdesk will also answer general enquiries and obtain information for callers where that information is not known locally.
The Helpdesk is staffed by Sarah Cooke (Manager), Beverley Braiden, Anne Scott, Tracey Davies and Angela Durling between 8:00 and 16:30 from Monday to Friday.
Maintenance defects should be reported in the first instance to the nominated person in your department or building as outlined in the table below. This person then passes the information on to the Helpdesk via our intranet system or by telephone. The maintenance of University buildings is carried out by Estates staff and contractors employed by the Estates Department.

Intranet web access is available to selected staff around the University, all of whom have a responsibility for the maintenance of their building and/or department. This list of users increases as and when it is proven an individual or department will benefit from being given access. The Helpdesk operators process the maintenance defects either from the web or by inputting the information received by telephone and passing them to the relevant trade supervisors for action.back to top
