My first novel, The Still Point, was published in January 2010 by Portobello Books. In November, the book was awarded the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize for a work of literature by a writer under 35; it was also long-listed for the Orange Prize for Fiction and the Dylan Thomas Prize. I have had short articles published in The Independent and Twin magazine, and short fiction included in Fish Publishing and Leaf Books anthologies.
I am interested in the novel as a form, and its development particularly in the modern to postmodern period. As a reader and a writer, I am fascinated by the interrelation of language and the world; the ways in which our sense of ourselves and other people, of reality and identity, are both represented and constituted by words.
