My primary research interest focuses on kinships of both method and concern between phenomenology―the work of Edmund Husserl and Maurice Merleau-Ponty in particular―and modernist literature and art. Other interests include the interaction of contemporary philosophy with theology and the relationship between modernism and postcolonial writing. I recently co-edited Phenomenology, Modernism and Beyond, an interdisciplinary collection of essays exploring a variety of modernist issues gravitating around the philosophy of Edmund Husserl, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Martin Heidegger, Gaston Bachelard, Michel Henry and Paul Ricoeur. I am currently working on a monograph examining the phenomenological dimension of the epiphany in modernist literature and art.
I am particularly interested in supervising theses on modernist literature and poetry within various philosophical, theoretical and comparative frameworks, spanning from modernist philosophy, aesthetics and art to postmodern theory and visual culture.
I am a member of the Nordic Society for Phenomenology and the Modern Language Association.
