Creative Writing at Kent

As a creative writer you'll find yourself in a climate of enthusiasm and encouragement. Kent's School of English has several novelists and poets on its staff, as well as a writer-in-residence from India each year.Creative Writing is a rapidly expanding area of study and practice at the University of Kent and now offers full programmes at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. These programmes are extremely popular and in great demand.

Poets and novelists in the School of English include Abdulrazak Gurnah, Desertion, Scarlett Thomas, The End of Mr. Y, Sarah Moss, Cold Earth, David Herd, Mandelson! Mandelson!, Patricia Debney,  Black Hole, Lucy Ellmann, Doctors & Nurses, and Todd McEwen, Who Sleeps with Katz.  There is a weekly series of readings by acclaimed writers, an annual T.S.Eliot Poetry prize, and magazine of students's work, edited by a student/staff committee
