How We Can Help
The Faculty Learning Technologists will provide support for Schools and academics engaging in e-learning development. This may include discussing and developing individual and School approaches, including the effective use of a range of e-learning technologies and staff development needs.
If you'd like to arrange an informal meeting or a consultation, please contact us at elearning@kent.ac.uk. This will be forwarded to all of the Faculty Learning Technologists:
- Steve Bailey (Humanities)
- Mick Norman (Social Sciences)
- Stephen Ogden (STMS & KBS)
Faculty Learning Technologists are on hand to run regular training sessions or custom training as per your School requirements. In addition your School can organise an FLT day, where your FLT will come to your School and be available to your staff for a variety of support, advice, and training needs.
Faculty Learning Technologists are well placed to assist Schools with piloting 'peripheral technologies' i.e. those not provided centrally and which a School wishes to trial (1.5 of the University e-learning strategy).
Faculty Learning Technologists are available to assist Schools to incorporate e-learning implementation into School plans and annual monitoring reports (2.1 of the University e-learning strategy).
If you are considering offering flexible or distance learning that includes the use of technology, please consult your FLT. FLTs will help with advice on the design of your course, including instructional design, helping you select suitable technologies, and other issues such as usability and accessibility. For more information, see the distance learning planning advice page.
If you are considering the use of e-assessment for summative and assessed work, please consult your FLT. The University does not currently recommend the use of automated online systems for summative and assessed work but your FLT can provide advice and support for small numbers and should be kept informed when it is in use. There are many considerations and criteria that must be met, including the QAA Code of Practice Section 2 and the BSI standards.
