The University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NZ, T +44 (0)1227 764000
The School of Economics offers the following funding opportunities for PhD students for 2012/13:
All these awards are offered for one year in the first instance, renewable for a maximum of three years subject to satisfactory academic performance.
Award holders are more than likely to be asked to teach for the equivalent of up to six hours per week across autumn and spring terms. The teaching requirement includes teaching small groups on School of Economics first and second year modules, answering student queries, marking coursework, marking student attendance and recording this attendance on the University’s database. Module convenors usually provide guidance for their teaching assistants through regular meetings and other training is provided by the School and the University. All teaching is in English.
The funding competition is open to all postgraduate research applicants. We accept candidates in any area of economics, but we encourage applicants to check staff research interests, as all candidates need to identify a potential supervisor.
For self-funded students we may be able to offer the possibility of hourly-paid teaching for small groups.
