Research expertise

DICE is committed to high-quality, practical, applied conservation research. In 2008 DICE was the first dedicated conservation entity to submit independently into the Research Assessment Exercise. More than half of our research was ranked as world leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*). Our record of publication is impressive, with over 200 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and books since 1996, including many in high impact journals such as Nature, Science, and Conservation Biology. The RAE also commended our excellent international and practitioner links, and significant international policy and advisory work.

DICE carries out consultancies and research related a wide variety of topics including sustainable use, wildlife trade, systematic conservation planning, and adaptation to climate change. Please contact Dr Susanna Paisley if you are interested in commissioning a research consultancy.

Stuart Harrop Photo

This photograph was taken by Prof Stuart Harrop during a Darwin Initiative expedition to the most southern and unexplored islands in the world before Drakes Passage and the Antarctic in Chilean territory. The project involved mapping, recording and classifying the plants with particular interest in the bryophytes.
