World-leading research
Kent’s excellent performance in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirmed our position as one of the UK’s leading universities. Our 18 academic schools were found to be engaged in research of international and world-class standing.
Following our strong RAE results, Kent’s ranking among the research-intensive universities rose substantially, leading to an increase in research funding of 46%. This new investment is enabling Kent to further develop its state-of-the-art research facilities.
With programmes of study that are informed by research, our students are able to develop skills and knowledge relevant to contemporary issues. Our research activities and collaborations with outside organisations create knowledge that is highly influential in many areas.
