Management (General) MSc

This is a taught programme within the Business subject area.

Outline

This programme provides you with a broad understanding of all areas of general management within an international business context. You study key aspects of business and management, all designed to build on your existing knowledge and experiences. This develops managerial expertise and capabilities necessary for a career in whichever area you choose, including running your own business.

Stage 1

  • Core modules: Business in International Perspective; Financial and Management Accounting; Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management; Research Methods; Strategy.
  • Compulsory modules: Management of Operations; Marketing.
  • Core Management electives: Applied Business Modelling; Corporate Finance; E-commerce Technology and Infrastructures; Economics of the Electronic Marketplace; Globalisation and Corporate Social Responsibility; Leadership and Management; Managing Diversity and Equal Opportunities; Managing Island and Coastal Tourism; Social Entrepreneurs and Social Enterprises; Structure and Organisation of the E-enterprise; Tourism Development, Asia-Pacific.
  • Electives – three from core Management electives list (see above) or from these additional electives: Managing the Multinational Enterprise; Marketing Communications; Marketing in an International Perspective.

Stage 2

Upon successfully completing Stage 1, you take the Personal and Management Skills Development module, the Research Methods module and produce two reports: The Management Skills Report and the Business Report.

Assessment

Assessment is by examination and coursework.
