Pre-retirement course

This two day course is designed for people who are within a year or so of retirement from their full-time employment or occupation. It will provide an opportunity to acquire useful information on the problems, as well as the new openings, facing those about to retire.Awide range of topics will be covered and there will be time also for advice on any specific items whichmay concern individuals.

Overview

To promote an informal atmosphere and encourage group discussion, numbers will be limited to twenty. Partners of retirees are most welcome and encouraged to attend. The course lasts for two days. Each day will start with coffee at 9.30 am and will finish at 4.00 pm. Lunch and refreshments are included in the fee. Joining instructions, confirming venues and times, will be sent to all participants (at their home address) approximately two weeks before the start of the courses.

  • Investment and Taxation: Planning your affairs in a tax efficient manner Simple guides to investment in Retirement
  • State Benefits and Pensions: How much can I expect? What happens if I retire early?
  • Continued Health in Retirement
  • The Challenges of Retirement
  • Hobbies, interests, voluntary work and travel for those with time available
  • Wills and trusts: Protecting your assets
  • The way forward

All courses take place on the University campus in Canterbury. Parking is available in the Visitors Car Park and a day permit will be supplied with your joining instructions approximately two weeks before the start of the course.

The fee for Planning for Retirement is £160.00 per person inclusive. Payment must be made in advance of attendance. Refreshments during the day, including lunch, are included in the fee.Participants with special dietary requirements and/or reduced mobility should notify us of these when applying.

Applications for courses should be made using the form provided. Wherever possible, applications should be accompanied by a cheque (made payable to UNIKENT) in full payment of the fee.
