Student funding

Sources of funding

We allocate over £6.5 million from our own funds and attract an additional £2 million to provide a variety of financial support opportunities for postgraduate students. These range from a generous number of research student scholarships, through to location-specific funding, sport and music scholarships, and funding specifically for overseas fee-paying students.

If you already have financial support when you apply, you should indicate its source on your application form. If you do not, contact us and we will do our best to help you find support.

University scholarships

The University of Kent has established a scholarship fund of over £6.5 million to support research students. This fund allows the University to provide support for more than 100 students in any one year.

Research councils

The UK Research Councils support postgraduate training and research. There are seven Councils, all which support particular fields of study. The University of Kent attracts funding from many of them to support postgraduate students on both taught and research degrees.
