Referring a student to us
Student distress may become apparent in a vaiety of ways. Some students may be open about their difficulties and proactive in discussing them with you. Others may cope by avoiding or denying difficulties, in which case these may come apparent through changes in the students apprearance or manner, or in the consistency and quality of their academic work.
Making a referral
If a student is able to admit that there is a problem you can suggest it might be helpful to approach the counselling service. If may help to convey that seeing a counsellor as a positive adult step. We ask that the student make contact with us to request their appointment. We recognise that there may be special circumstances in which you feel you need to make the appointment on their behalf. If you are finding making a referral difficult problematic please do feel free to contact us directly to discuss this.
Concessions
Please do not refer students for concessionary evidence letters, we are not able to provide support unless they have been an ongoing client with us.
