Our Team:
The Counselling service is staffed by a team of trained and accredited counsellors. The counsellors are all experienced in helping people from many different backgrounds and cultures, and with a wide range of personal and work issues.
Gerard McGillHead of ServiceGerard works Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday throughout the year. He is an integrative practitioner and has experience working in Primary Care and Further Education. Gerard is a BACP accredited Counsellor. |
Polly KlinefelterSenior CounsellorPolly works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for 40 weeks a year and has been a member of the team since 1993. Originally from California Polly holds a BA Psychology & MSW degree. She has a private practice in psychological therapy and clinical supervision. Polly has experience teaching in further and higher education as was a member of school counselling team for many years. Polly is BACP accredited counsellor and supervisor. |
Suzanne BalabilSenior CounsellorSuzanne works four days a week throughout the year at the Counselling Service. She has several years of counselling experience in further Education and Primary Care settings. Suzanne has been BACP Accredited since 1998. She has a background in Psychology (BSc an MSc) and social work and has a small private practice. |
Patmarie ColemanSenior CounsellorPatmarie works two days a week supervising the Counselling Service at Medway and one day a week at Canterbury all year round. She is a person centered, humanistic trained counsellor. She also works as a counselling skills tutor and has experience of working in a range of educational institutions. Patmarie is a member of UKCP. |
Anna Edgar - ChanCounsellor Anna works Tuesday, Thursday and Friday throughout the year. She has counselling experience in Higher Education, Primary Care setting and is a Bereavement Volunteer for CRUSE East Kent and Swale branch. Anna is a BACP accredited counsellor. |
Administration teamJenny Pincott - Office ManagerSamantha Roberts - Appointments SecretaryThe office is open Monday - Friday 9-5pm all year round. Medway Administration Sarah Kenyon - Student Support Assistant The office is open Monday - Friday 9.15am-3pm all year round. |
Associate CounsellorsAt any one time, the Counselling Service usually has a team of between 8 and 10 placement counsellors. We are fortunate to attract a number of highly competent professionally trained voluntary counsellors and psychotherapists seeking to extend their experience by working in a University setting |
