Business
enterprise award for Senectus, TSO and IBM
A 2005 University of Kent Enterprise
Commendation Award for collaboration between
University and industry partners was presented
to the University's Centre for Health Services
Studies (CHSS) Senectus team, The Stationery
Office (TSO) and IBM. Together, these three
organisations have produced paper and electronic
Department of Health Single Assessment Process
manuals and assessment forms for the NHS and
social care sectors.

The manuals and assessment
forms use the Minimum Data Set instrument, and
now have the potential for use in the Single
Assessment Process in every primary care trust,
health authority and social service department
across the UK.
Dr Iain Carpenter, Associate
Director of CHSS and Senectus Project Leader said, 'TSO, IBM and Senectus
are delighted to receive this award. CHSS has
benefited from the expertise of TSO and IBM. TSO
has produced high quality published material for
the MDS and valuable advice with regard to data
protection, national data standards and ethical
issues in relation to consent. IBM has developed
a high quality managed service that will also
enable direct transfer of assessment data to
Senectus for standards and performance
benchmarking and to support research in health
and social care for the benefit of older
people.'
