Why has the University closed the Centre for Flexible Learning?

The University recently held a review of the Certificate in Combined Studies programme in the light of Government funding initiatives, including the ELQ policy (for those with an existing or lower level qualification) which have had a severe impact on the financial viability of the programme. Unfortunately the review concluded that the Certificate was no longer sustainable. Accordingly it has been decided that while existing students would be able to complete their studies on the programme, the Centre for Flexible Learning would no longer admit new students to the programme from 2011. It should be emphasised that the University will continue to provide a range of part time degree programmes through its academic Schools. Read more... (pdf)

I am a current CCS student. Can I complete the Certificate in Combined Studies?

If an assignment fails to reach the required pass mark, it may be resubmitted in a revised form for assessment no later than 30 days after the date it was returned to you. The feedback you receive from the tutor will draw your attention to the reasons the assignment has been judged to fail, and will also make suggestions for improvement. The tutor may also refer the student concerned to the Student Learning Advisory Service (SLAS) for further advice, if they feel this is needed.

Under University of Kent regulations, and in fairness to all students, resubmitted assignments may be capped at 40%, the minimum pass mark.

I am a new student. How can I study part-time?

There are lots of ways you can study at Kent, and what you choose will depend on why you want to study. Visit the part-time study website for more information.
