As a result of a recent review of the Centre for Flexible Learning, the following information should be considered carefully before applying for a course:
The Centre for Flexible Learning will cease to exist from 31st January 2011.
Certificate in Combined Studies
Certificate in Combined Studies 2010/11
- CCS will continue in its present format for the remainder of the 2010/11 academic year.
- Current students can find the letter regarding their future options at the CCS student pages:
- New students in 2010/11 should note that the current CCS modules can be taken as stand-alone modules but that it will not be possible to build the credits gained towards a Certificate in Combined Studies. You may be able to continue studying part-time through an Academic School but should seek advice before registering for a course.
- CFL aims to conclude discussions with students about their future options for progression or completion up to 31st January 2011.
- From 1st February 2011, the Faculty of Humanities will be responsible for progression and completion issues.

Certificate in Combined Studies(HE) 2011/12
- The Centre for Flexible Learning will cease to exist on 31st January 2010.
- From 1st February 2011, the CCS programme will no longer be based in Keynes College.
- NEW STUDENTS - There will be no new students accepted onto the programme in 2011/12
- CONTINUING STUDENTS - The University will do its best to assist continuing CCS students to complete the full ‘Certificate in Combined Studies (120-credit award) or the University’s ‘60-credit Certificate in Continuing Education’.
- From 1st February 2011, the Faculty of Humanities will be responsible for progression and completion issues.

Access to HE
Access to HE 2010/11
- The Access to HE Diploma (Humanities & Social Sciences) held at the University of Kent’s Canterbury campus will continue in its present format in 2010/11.

- The Centre for Flexible Learning will cease to exist on 31st January 2010.

Access to HE 2011/12
- New applications are not being accepted by the University of Kent.

- To find your nearest centre, visit the Open College Network, South East Region (OCNSER) website (opens new page).
The OCN is a national organisation; OCNSER is the regional awarding body for Access courses across Kent, whether provided within a School Sixth Form, a local Further Education College, or other provider.
- The OCNSER website holds information about all Kent providers of Access courses available to home students. For contact details of these providers:
- Click on the Access to HE tab.
- Click on For Students just below and see Where can I find an Access to HE Course near to where I live?; click on 'Access Course Finder'.

Open Studies
The number of short courses offered by the Centre in 2010/11 was reduced from those originally advertised. From 1st February 2011 Open Studies Short Courses will be administered by the Tonbridge University Centre E: tonbridgeadmin@kent.ac.uk or T: 01732 352316.
