UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON – EngD PROGRAMME
The Engineering Doctorate Centre in Virtual Environments, Imaging and Visualisation (EngD VEIV) was founded in 2001 at University College London in the Department of Computer Science and the Bartlett School of Architecture. The EngD VEIV funds and supports research engineers (REs) studying in areas related to the use of visualisation and imaging in engineering and design.
An EngD is a doctoral degree similar to a PhD, DPhil or DSci. However, unlike those degrees, and more like degree programmes in Europe and North America, the EngD is four years in duration and contains some taught elements. The EngD is thus a relatively new type of degree for the UK.
Every RE has a sponsoring company, and normally the RE will work significant proportions of their time at the company.
The EngD VEIV centre has secured funding for up to ten new students each year in the years 2009 through 2013. The sponsoring company contributes between £6K - 10K per annum to the costs of supporting the student, with the majority of the stipend and fees covered by the EngD Centre's own funds.
For more information please visit www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/teaching/engd/ or email A.Steed@cs.ucl.ac.uk No set deadline as can start any time of year

It is similar to a sabbatical for professionals who are currently employed, or an internship for those who have recently graduated.
In addition to their specific projects, Fellows participate in weekly field trips, interviews and site visits to Northwest forestry organizations, parks, universities, public and private timberlands, trade associations, mills, and corporations. The Fellowship is a unique opportunity to learn about sustainable forestry from the Pacific Northwest forestry sector, and to work with colleagues from around the world. GRB are delighted to announce the launch of “Rising Stars” - our pick of the UKs most talented graduating students for 2010. The GRB team has carefully searched, screened and selected 50 of Britain’s most exceptional final year students who will transform businesses across the UK in 2010.
The shortlist will be held on our website www.grb.uk.com and it will be password protected for employers to browse. Recruiters interested in seeing your CV will call GRB first. A consultant will then call you and explain the opportunity in more detail. With your consent we will then forward your CV, arrange interviews and ultimately secure a job offer.
To complete your entry into our Rising Star shortlist you must first be registered with GRB. Then all we require is a short personal statement covering what career you are looking for and what makes you stand out along with your CV. If you think you're a Rising Star then please use the form on the website.
