PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am looking for management training which offers me the opportunity to develop new skills while strengthening those I already possess. I am a Humanities postgraduate with museum and service sector experience. My main strengths are adaptability, dependability and the determination to get a job done. I also learn fast and make few mistakes.

   A clear, well written objective or personal profile can help to stand out from the crowd in the competitive area of the media. Avoid hackneyed phrases such as "I have good communication skills and work well in a team"!

   Dissertations can be useful to mention as they help you to develop a range of skills such as working independently, planning, constructing a reasoned argument and time management.

2006 - 2007 UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK STUDENTS UNION, Coventry.
Temporary, part-time assistant available at short notice for a range of Student Union activities

  • Steward for Theatre and Cinema
  • Silver Service waitress
  • Campus Tour Guide. This involved taking responsibility for a group of students and answering questions.
   Gives details of emploment-related competencies such as organising, designing, taking responsibility and communication skills.
     

ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS

  • Chair of Asian Society, managing a budget, arranging events, planning activities.
  • Secretary of the Film Society, booking films, organising screening schedules, promoting events.
  • Organised a charity fun run for Rag Week.
  • Attended and contributed to an “Insight Into Retail Banking” course.
  • Compete in many sports, particularly athletics and women's rugby for the University team.
  Gives details of competencies gained that would be valuable in jobs: managing, arranging, planning, promoting, organising skills and team sports.
