SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION

These information sources are not specifically careers-related, but may be useful if you are looking for information on a company which is not a regular recruiter of graduates, or want to make speculative applications to companies in a specific business or geographical area

• Companies House www.companieshouse.gov.uk allows you to get name, address and brief details of ALL registered UK companies.
• Hemmington Scott www.hemscott.co.uk/EQUITIES/INDEX.HTM stock market information on many companies that may give useful background for interviews.
• Share Cast www.sharecast.com Shares prices for many companies, but also newspaper articles on the company.

• Financial Times www.annualreports.ft.com - free service providing access to annual reports and other company information.
• Yellow Pages www.yell.com  Yellow Pages on the web.
• BBC News Business Section http://news.bbc.co.uk  A good place to find the latest business news and economic data. Also has a search section where you can find articles about particular companies
• British Services www.britishservices.co.uk comprehensive resource covering major governing bodies, government departments, associations and resources of over 100 industries in the UK along with non-profit organisations, charities, groups, clubs and businesses. Has broad list of trade associations and regulatory bodies www.britishservices.co.uk/associations.htm
  
• Directory of UK Organisations www.dotukdirectory.co.uk 
• Scoot www.scoot.co.uk

There are also many search engines you can use, but here are some that may be particularly useful.

• Yahoo UK Not really a search engine, but a list of categories you can "drill down" through until you find the particular one you want. This is the UK section.
• Google  'nuf said!

Remember also our links section where you will find links to specific career areas and also Prospect Web which has a large employer database.
