Year 10 Partner Schools Summer School - Tuesday 24th to Thursday 26th July

Next week, the University will be running a three day residential Summer School for 60 year 10 students from the University’s Partner Schools across Kent and Medway. Participants will have the opportunity to experience university life first-hand, living on corridors and attending lectures and seminars. Organised by the Partnership Development Office, the Summer School will be run by University staff supported by a team of 11 student mentors, all current University of Kent students.

Summer School students will live in Rutherford College corridors from Tuesday 24th July – Thursday 26th July. They will attend a variety of taster sessions which reflect the University’s wide ranging provision in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences. The sessions provide an insight into academic study at University level through a range of interactive and challenging activities. Evenings will be taken up with some exciting social activities which reflect the diverse opportunities offered by sports and societies at Kent.

The Summer School programme is part of the University’s commitment to widening participation and outreach in the local region. Previous participants have found it invaluable in helping them to gain a better understanding of higher education and to make informed choices about their future.
