International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia
The University's Mediation Service has scooped the award for Best Newcomer to Mediation, at The PMA (Professional Mediators Association) National Mediation Awards.
The awards, held in London on 27 September, are organised by the Professional Mediators Association, a not-for-profit professional association founded in 2007 to raise awareness of, and best practice for mediation across the UK.
The award recognises an internal mediation scheme less than 12 months old, which actively engages stakeholders such as senior management, HR and line mangers, trade unions, shareholders and the general public. Our Service was recognised for monitoring performance and undertaking a process of continuous improvement, using qualified volunteer mediators trained by accredited mediation training providers.
The judges felt that the University of Kent had demonstrated a commitment to mediation and drive to make our new Mediation Service a success. This award also recognises and supports our collective interest in encouraging two-way dialogue and discussions where people are able to jointly find solutions to differences.
