International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia
Adventurer and expedition cameraman Leon McCarron will give an open lecture at the University of Kent on Wednesday 3 October at 6pm.
The lecture, titled 'The cycling reporter: 14,000 miles on a bicycle from New York to Hong Kong', will take place in Woolf College Lecture Theatre on the Universitys Canterbury campus. Admission is free and open to all.
Leon McCarron has shot documentary footage on five continents, with expeditions across jungles, deserts and oceans and in sub-zero temperatures. In 2010, he cycled 14,500 miles solo and unsupported from New York to Hong Kong. A year later, he trekked 3,000 miles from Mongolia to Hong Kong on foot, shooting a TV show for National Geographic.
Leon graduated with a BA in Film Studies from Kent in 2008. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, he writes regularly for newspapers and magazines in the UK and abroad, including The Sunday Times and The Guardian.
