Kent's international relations experts give evidence to government committee

International relations experts from Kent have provided the Foreign Affairs Committee with written submissions on UK policy on the future of the European Union.

Professor Richard Whitman, of the University's School of Politics and International Relations, and three colleagues provided sections of the written evidence submitted to the Committee for its report titled The Future of the European Union: UK Government Policy.

The Committee received evidence from politicians, think-tanks and campaigning organisations as well as leading academics and other EU specialists.

Professor Whitman, who is also an Associate Fellow at Chatham House and chair of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies, said: ‘The fact that University of Kent experts were among the influential individuals and organisations submitting evidence highlights the value in which our research on the EU and other European institutions is held.'

Committee chairman Richard Ottaway MP said that he was 'very pleased' that his Committee was able to receive submission from 'such a range of high-profile individuals and organisations'.

Also providing input to the submission from the School of Politics and International Relations were Dr Paolo Dardanelli, Clive Church and Andreas Mueller.
