The University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NZ, T +44 (0)1227 764000
The University will be making an application for the Athena Swan Bronze Award in April 2013 and as part of our commitment to the Charter and the on-going development of careers for women in Science, Engineering and Technology at Kent , we are pleased to announce that we will be holding our second Athena Swan day on Monday 10th September 2012.
The day will aim to bring a range of subjects together that focus on the Athena Swan themes of addressing gender inequalities, tackling the unequal representation of women in science and changing cultures and attitudes across the organisation.
You will be able to participate in a number of interactive workshops that include; Promotions at Kent, Developing as a Researcher, Career Development for Administrative Staff, Mentoring, Equality and Diversity and the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
In addition to the workshops we have also organised for Professor Alison Rodger from the University of Warwick to attend the event and to share with us, her thoughts on Athena Swan work and activities taking place at Warwick, along with a keynote address and question and answer session from the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dame Julia Goodfellow, a leading female scientist.
Whilst the Athena Swan Charter focuses on the career development of women within the Science subjects, we are keen to extend our invitation to any interested colleagues from across the University as the subjects and learning from the day will be able to help inform good practice in all of our Schools and Departments.
The day starts at 11.15 and ends at approximately 3.45 - all sessions will be held in Keynes.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided and there will be an opportunity to meet and discuss ideas with other colleagues.
If you would like to attend then please contact: equalityanddiversity@kent.ac.uk by Tuesday 4th September.
