Accreditation
All degrees and certificates awarded for study on any programme at the Brussels School of International Studies are awarded by the University of Kent, and they are conferred by the University at its normal Congregation ceremonies in Canterbury Cathedral.
Although based in Belgium the Brussels School of International Studies is an integral part of the Faculty of Social Sciences on a par with other centres such as the Centre for BioMedical Informatics or the Centre for American Studies in the other faculties and its programmes are subject to the same stringent quality assurance procedures as for all other University of Kent programmes.
The University of Kent is endowed with degree awarding powers by virtue of its Royal Charter. The delivery of programmes both in the United Kingdom and at the University of Kent campus in Brussels remains subject to routine audits by the United Kingdom Quality Assurance Agency at both an institutional level and at the level of individual departments. This is to ensure that its awards, programmes, and student experience among a range of other things, are of the highest national and international standards.
Masters degrees obtained from Kent, like most Chartered institutions in the United Kingdom, are suitable for entry to the PhD programmes in the United Kingdom or the United States (provided the candidate has performed to an appropriate level).
