History and Philosophy of Art

Postgraduate Studies

History & Philosophy of Art at Kent offers opportunities to study with highly regarded scholars in the visual arts. While individual members of staff have a wide range of research interests, there are particular research strengths in the history and theory of photography, the historical interplay of image, theory and institutions, contemporary aesthetics and the history of art theory.

All postgraduate degree programmes provide training in research skills, opportunities to take part in a joint staff and postgraduate research seminar, and for appropriate PhD students there is the opportunity to gain teaching experience and training.

History & Philosophy of Art offers research degrees at PhD level and candidates should normally have completed an MA.
