The Story of Imam Hussain8pm
Aphra Studio
The Story of Imam Hussain (Based on a Si'i Tradition)
By following the history of Iranian Ta’ziyeh, this performance aims at coming close to Si´i culture. It tries to build a bridge between storytelling and the dramatization of a historical event, utilizing religious conventions as creative elements. These have been elaborated as part of the cultural relocation of the form and within the dynamics of the group, originating a cultural frame within which we have explored our own practice.
This piece is the culmination of this years MA Par student Felipe Cervera.

Butoh bodiesFRIDAY 25th SEPTEMBER

Lumley Studio
Butoh Bodies: A Performance Research Presentation By Frances Barbe and Yuko Kawamoto
Frances and Yuko share work-in-progress material from their recent collaborative residency, part of London Butoh Festival. Their research interrogates Butoh - a dance-theatre approach that emerged from Japan in the 1960s. A self-professed ‘anti-technique’, Butoh is often referred to as a dance of ‘pure presence’, an act of transformation, or a negotiation of inner-life and outer form and became famous for its use of stillness, slow motion and extreme or grotesque figures.
