A dramatic exploration of relationships and themes pertinent to generation Y based on interactions between four 1st year university students and their lovers/friends in an undergrad residence on campus. Presented in an intimate setting with the audience in close proximity to the action, the production represents the culmination of a workshop process conducted with 1st year drama students aimed at exploring naturalist and realist performance techniques. This is acting without masks or disguises, just truthful human behaviour and emotion laid bare.

A woman returns to a country estate. She brings with her an exiled leader. Their arrival signals a change in the natural order. Meanwhile, a husband and wife cling on to power and a daughter is swept along by the tide of events.
Darkly comic in tone, A Country Mile explores the notions of loyalty and power in a closed community.

Some people behave differently in hotels, a little bit of the rock star emerges, the performer and extrovert appears, nobody really cares what you’re doing, who you are or why you’re there anyway, do they? And if anybody’s listening, who cares, and if anyone’s watching, who cares… in the confines of a hotel room, everything goes… Truth usually first… An intriguing blend of film and performance, a voyeuristic journey into the hotel room above, where a couple tear apart and grow together, where the differences between men and women crash through ceilings, where crossing the line from player to played depends only on who’s holding the camera.
