This lecture looks at forms of performance on the fringe of mainstream theatre such as Multimedia Theatre, Site Specific Theatre and Performance Art. We look firstly at a brief history of the key dynamics in twentieth century art and performance, before exploring the nature and impact of these unconventional theatre forms. The second part of the lecture examines case studies of companies, productions and events.
