Honorary graduates
We welcome suggestions from alumni for the award of honorary degrees. To find out more about nominating someone, email alumni@kent.ac.uk
Honorary degrees conferred by the University recognise the exceptional contributions made by the individuals concerned. In addition, the awards:
- Reflect the University’s key values – excellence, engagement and enterprise.
- Demonstrate the University’s commitment to the creation, development and communication of knowledge and acknowledge the economic, social and cultural benefits of these activities.
- Indicate the University’s primary roles as a major research-led institution, as a regional leader in Higher Education and as the UK’s European University and its international outlook.
Distinguished stage and screen actor Sir Donald Sinden, author and poet Vikram Seth and BBC political correspondent Mark Mardell are among those set to receive honorary degrees from the University at ceremonies in July 2011.
Internationally-acclaimed ballet dancer and broadcaster Deborah Bull and veteran Middle East correspondent and author Patrick Cockburn were among those receiving honorary degrees from the University in November 2010.
