SUMMARY:Attenberg 18
LOCATION:Cinema, The Gulbenkian, The University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NB
DESCRIPTION: From the producer of the Oscar nominated Dogtooth (and with Dogtooth’s director Giorgos Lanthimos acting in a supporting role), Attenberg has a similar focus – on people who grow up outside the realm of normal human behaviour.\n\n23-year-old Marina lives in a prototype factory town by the sea with her father. Finding most people repellent, she largely keeps her distance from them. Instead, she chooses to learn about the world from only very esoteric, specific sources; such as David Attenborough documentaries about mammals, the songs of ‘Suicide’, and the sex education lessons she receives from her best friend Bella. But her odd routines are disrupted when a stranger arrives in the town, and as her father ritualistically prepares to ‘exit from the 20th century’.\n\nhttp://www.kent.ac.uk/gulbenkian/Cinema/films/2011/october/2011-10-attenberg.html
