It’s small town Wales in the 1970s, and one class of teenagers is about to have the Summer of their lives. Minnie Driver is the free-spirited teacher engaging her wayward students by staging a school production of The Tempest using the contemporary songs of David Bowie. While eyebrows are raised by some of the more old-fashioned teaching staff on her occasionally hedonistic methods, the students blossom under her supervision, and all the angst and rites of passage that must be endured as first loves sting and sexuality is discovered. Mostly though, the film serves to remind audiences just how great these songs are and the enduring appeal of Shakespeare.
