Karen Goffin

Responsibilities

Karen’s current responsibilities include University governance, the University’s principal bodies (Secretary of Council, Senate and Court and Council committees), health and safety (Chair of the Registry Health & Safety Committee) and she is Secretary to the Executive Group (the University’s senior management team). She is also Head of the Central Secretariat.

Career

A graduate of the University of Durham, Karen’s first post at the University of Kent was in the Faculty of Social Sciences. After moving to central administration Karen was appointed Head of the Central Secretariat in 1990 and Secretary of the Council in 2005. Karen has a Kent MA (in Management, awarded in 1989) and pre-Durham she held posts in British Rail and British Telecommunications.
