South East Trials Unit

SETU - South East Trials Unit - provides a comprehensive range of services to support randomised controlled trials, as well as maintaining a broad portfolio of its own in-house trials. The unit provides an infrastructure for the design, conduct and analysis of trials across the health and social care sectors. Leadership for methodological design, trial management, co-ordination, data management, randomisation and statistical analysis are all key functions of the unit.

SETU can help you with all aspects of designing, managing and analysing randomised controlled trials, from conception to completion. Our expertise encompasses pre-trial planning, including literature and systematic reviews, prevalence studies, methodological development, sample size calculation and outcome measurement through to the application for funding and study management. The unit actively encourages clinicians, practitioners and academics to collaborate in the development of scientifically rigorous methodological approaches to the evaluation of health and social care interventions.

SETU is based at the 6 star, internationally recognised Centre for Health Services Studies (CHSS) at the University of Kent. CHSS draws together a wide range of research expertise including: quantitative and qualitative methodology, health and social policy, medical sociology, public health and epidemiology, geriatric medicine, primary care, physiotherapy, statistical and information analysis.
