Specialist Research Groups

CHSS favours a team-working approach with regard to its research interests, and includes a number of specialist research groups, each offering a discreet range of services within their respective fields. The groups' operations are all based at CHSS, promoting integration and cross-collaboration.

Addictive Behaviours Group The Addictive Behaviours Group has been providing education and research in addiction related areas since 1982. Servces include undergraduate courses and training for practitioners.

Ethnicity The Ethnicity research programme was initiated in the mid-1990s and aims to examine ethnic disparities in health promotion, health and health care.

European Projects CHSS also undertakes research funded by the European Union.

Social Exclusion Group The Social Exclusion Group facilitates collaboration between organisations working with socially excluded people and academic researchers, from CHSS, and the Department of Psychology Medicine at Cardiff University, and working collaboratively with The Salvation Army.

Vulnerable Adults Group

Vulnerable Groups undertakes research into at risk groups, including children, older people and mental health. Within the group, the Senectus team maintain a large and comprehensive database of health indicators for older people.

A separate site is maintained for each of these groups. To return to the CHSS main site, click the link at the bottom of each sub-site menu.
